Setting Dates for the Rapture

I'm sure you have all heard on the news about the preacher who predicted that Jesus would come and take the church to heaven on May 21, 2011. Obviously it didn't happen. The preacher and his followers are all severely disappointed and embarrassed by the whole thing. At least I thought so. Now Rev. Camping has said that the new date is October 21, 2011. I don't know if he is seriously expecting the same followers to hold out with him again or not.

There is a simple solution to keep Christians from getting caught up in the hype of fad doctrine and false doctrine. Are you ready for it? Read the Bible! The Scripture is so clear on this issue that there is no reason at all for those who study the Bible to get caught up in this deception. Here is what it says:

“But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only. Matthew 24:36

What really bugs me is this. Instead of spending all this time trying to figure out something that God says we cannot know, why not spend that time helping others get ready for the Lord's coming? Why not instead of creating alarm and spending money on billboards, just reach out to someone that's hurting and share the love of Christ?

Be assured, Jesus is coming back. Instead of worrying about the date, we should be helping people get ready to meet Him.
