1 Now David said, “Is there still anyone who is left of the house of Saul, that I may show him kindness for Jonathan’s sake?” 2 Samuel 9:1
David’s heart always amazes me, no matter how many times I read of his life. I see each time I read about him that he truly was a man after God’s heart. He was so merciful and forgiving! What a man! Even after Saul persecuted him, tried to kill him, and betrayed him, David never forgot that Saul had been the Lord’s anointed and that Saul’s son Jonathan had been his dear friend. After it all was over, David was still looking for someone of the house of Saul that he could bless!
I want to have a forgiving heart like David had. I don’t want to hold onto past hurts. John Maxwell reminds us to “keep short accounts.” That is exactly what I need to do.
Lord I thank you today for another reminder of what You are like. You forgive us when by all human accounts we are far past forgiving. You are so gracious and merciful. Help me to be more like You today!
