Journal 4-20-09

April 29th, 2009

1 O LORD, You have searched me and known me.
2 You know my sitting down and my rising up;
You understand my thought afar off.
3 You comprehend my path and my lying down,
And are acquainted with all my ways.
4 For there is not a word on my tongue,
But behold, O LORD, You know it altogether.
5 You have hedged me behind and before,
And laid Your hand upon me.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;
It is high, I cannot attain it. Psalm 139:1-6

How amazing it is to think that God has searched us throughout our beings and knows us better than we know ourselves. He knows our habits, our thoughts, and our words. God knows everything about us. We seldom let people see the real us. I think we all have a mask of some sort that we wear for other people. Very few people are “authentic” to the point of really showing the world who they are. But we cannot hide this from God. He knows us.

It is even more amazing to think that God knows us and He still loves us! He cares for us fully knowing our faults and failures. The Psalmist says that God has laid His hand upon him. That knowledge is too wonderful to comprehend!

I want to be authentic. I want to be sincere through and through. I want to live a public and private life that is blameless.

Thank you Lord for loving me in spite of my failures. Thank you also for truly caring enough to know me inside and out. Lord I ask today for mercy. I need it! Forgive me of my sins and help me to live in a way that would glorify You!
