Hi Everyone:
I wanted to continue the conversation from last week with you. We were talking about the management of our time and how only we can be responsible to grow ourselves spiritually.
I love the Scripture where it says,
1 Sam 30:6
6 Now David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and his daughters. But David strengthened himself in the LORD his God.
When everything around us seems to be going wrong, we can encourage ourselves in the Lord! I heard a pastor speak recently about what he called his inspiration pack. These are things that he uses to keep himself encouraged and inspired in the Lord. Here are his. He uses the acronym red is g ( red is good, his favorite color.
R-Reading. He consistently reads book that inspire, stretch, and encourage him.
E-Exercise. He keeps his body exercised in order to keep his spirits high.
D-Daily devotions. There is no substitute for time in the Word and in prayer.
I-Inspirational people. He surrounds himself with people that inspire him and limits his time with people
that discourage him.
S-Solitude. He needs time alone to sort his thoughts and to hear from God.
G-Giving. He finds much inspiration from giving to the Kingdom and to people in need.
We all need to find our inspiriation pack, the things that keep us motivated and alive with passion. Let me know what yours is when you discover it. Mine are much like the ones he mentioned. But I would like to hear yours.
We love you all!
Andy
