Living for the Long Haul

9 So I went to the angel and told him to give me the small scroll. “Yes, take it and eat it,” he said. “It will be sweet as honey in your mouth, but it will turn sour in your stomach!” Revelation 10:9

Not everything that is sweet in the short run is good in the long run. We need to live for the long run. Sometimes things that taste really good in your mouth aren’t so good when you begin to digest them.

In this particular case, it was a prophecy from God that brought judgment. It was a good thing in that it fulfilled God’s plan, but was hard for John to watch it unfold.

I will remember to live for the long run, not the short pleasure.
