I'm reading the "Next Generation Leader" by Andy Stanley and picked up some great thoughts today on character. He says, "Your natural gifts and abilities have the potential to take you farther than your character can sustain you." That is so true.
I also loved this statment. "You cannot cram for a test of character. It is always a pop quiz."
It is so true. The test of character comes upon us as a surprise. The character we have built or failed to build will show up at these unexpected times.
I think it was C.S. Lewis who said that you never see the rats in the basement until you flip the lights on them in surprise and watch them scurry away. We may be surprised at our character in the unexpected moment if we are not building it today.
Well that's a thought for today!
