Let's Stay Here

I’ve spent this week working at our Youth Camp in Greensboro. We have really seen some lives changed this week. God has been moving powerfully on some of our young people and I’ve seen them have some mountaintop experiences.

It reminds me of Peter when he saw Jesus glory on the Mount of Transfiguration. He had never seen Jesus quite like that. He immediately spoke out and said, “Let’s just stay here.” That is probably what some of our young people here at camp are saying today.

But as great as it is when Jesus reveals himself in His glory, we also need to see Jesus revealed in the everyday mundane details of everyday life.

Pastors deal with this contrast very often. They preach and see people come to Christ and hear how their lives were changed. That’s the glory part. Sometimes on the same day they visit a nursing home and help a resident get to the bathroom and back. Jesus is to be found there as well.

So don’t ask to stay on the mountaintop forever. You have to see Jesus in your daily life. Look for Him, He is there.
